Next to “What’s your favorite wine,” or “What is the best wine” (whatever that means!), I am most frequently asked about pairing wine and food - what is the best combination. Fortunately there are about a zillion great combinations, but finding them can seem very hit and miss even for experienced wine lovers.
Welcome to a new Fine Vintage tasting experience, a masterclass that in a single afternoon of low pressure (ie - no exam!) tasting and comparing will reveal some reliable ways to bring bliss and harmony to your dining table, and I’m using 10 dazzling wines to make my point! The goal of every wine pairing should be to help the wine and food enhance each other - we want both to taste their best and neither to suffer. I’ve got you covered in this three and a half hour masterclass: 10 world-class wines and a lot of food pairings to help establish some guidelines (these are no inflexible rules!). I promise you’ll leave the tasting with combinations you’ll be eager to try. This is a relaxed exploration, and we’ll conclude the afternoon with a Champagne happy (half) hour from 5pm to 5:30pm. This will be the best $200 you’ll spend this autumn and will set you up for some great holiday pairings! And I’m bringing bubbles, don’t forget!

Benvenuto Brunello, an event held simultaneously in eight cities worldwide, was the debut of the storied 2019 vintage of Brunello di Montalcino, Tuscany’s classic, iconic and all-sangiovese wine. I was the presenter for one of the three American debut tastings, and have the story here.
