I happily confess a love of the moscato-based wines of Asti and especially those lightly frizzante Moscato d’Asti. I’ve visited the area several times and given masterclasses on behalf of the Asti Consorzio, so I am delighted to confirm a new masterclass in Miami on June 3, 2024. Admittance is limited to verified trade representatives, but if you are a sommelier, retailer, importer or student we’d love to welcome you to the tasting lab at Miami Culinary Institute.
Several producers will join me for this event, including representatives from La Caudrina, Coppo, Marenco, Michele Chiarlo and I Vignaioli di Santo Stefano-Ceretto. These are world-class winemakers from Piemonte who make some of the provinces finest wines (both red and white). I’m especially pleased to note that after our masterclass, the producers will host a lunch at which they will each present a red wine from their portfolio as well as well.
Registration is not yet open but I will post a link here as soon as it is possible to sign up for the event - it’s going to be epic for all who love the wines of Piemonte and especially those sweet treats from Asti!
Benvenuto Brunello, an event held simultaneously in eight cities worldwide, was the debut of the storied 2019 vintage of Brunello di Montalcino, Tuscany’s classic, iconic and all-sangiovese wine. I was the presenter for one of the three American debut tastings, and have the story here.
