Cristoph Willibald Gluck, composer of Orfeo ed Euridice
Cristoph Willibald Gluck's opera masterpiece Orfeo ed Euridice comes to the Broward Center for the Performing Arts on March 29 and 31. I'll be giving a performance preview at 6pm on the 31st, focusing on why Gluck's work is considered so revolutionary, and how it helped pave to way to Romanticism. And since Gluck's most famous music from the opera is the lyrical "Dance of the Blessed Spirits," I'll bring along a few spirits to share as well, the kind of spirits one puts in a glass, of course.
The presentation is open to all opera ticket holders and is sponsored by the Riverwalk Arts & Entertainment District of Fort Lauderdale.
